Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead a team focused on building and maintaining internal development platforms that empower our software engineering teams. This group owns and operates critical infrastructure tools such as Terraform Enterprise, GitHub Enterprise, Nexus, and SonarQube, and plays a key role in ensuring quality, security, governance, and efficiency across the software development lifecycle.

You’ll be responsible for driving platform reliability, scalability, and usability while supporting a team of engineers through mentorship, strategic planning, and cross-functional collaboration. Our internal customers are primarily software engineers, and your work will directly impact their productivity and success.

Responsibilities:

Lead and grow a team responsible for core development infrastructure platforms
Ensure the reliability, performance, and availability of supported services, meeting or exceeding SLAs
Collaborate with security and engineering teams to embed best practices across the SDLC
Drive the development and maintenance of Copilot-related metrics and dashboards using Amazon QuickSight
Oversee observability tooling and practices, including Splunk and Datadog, to ensure visibility into system health and performance
Establish and enforce governance standards for internal platforms, including access controls, compliance, and audit readiness
Partner with leadership to define team strategy, roadmap, and long-term goals
Promote engineering excellence through best practices in infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and platform governance
Support change management and continuous improvement through agile methodologies

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, or platform engineering
3+ years of experience managing engineering teams, including hiring, performance reviews, and career development
Hands-on experience with Terraform Enterprise, GitHub Enterprise, Nexus, and SonarQube
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
Proficiency in infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipeline design
Experience with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow (SNOW), AutoNow, or Jira Service Management
Experience building and maintaining metrics dashboards using Amazon QuickSight or similar BI tools
Experience managing observability platforms such as Splunk and Datadog
Proven ability to manage services with uptime and performance SLAs
Familiarity with platform governance practices, including policy enforcement, access management, and compliance monitoring
Management Experience

Demonstrated success leading high-performing, distributed engineering teams
Skilled in coaching, mentoring, and supporting engineers at all levels
Experience fostering a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous learning
Ability to lead teams through organizational and technical change
Strong cross-functional collaboration with product, security, and infrastructure stakeholders

Desired Characteristics:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Comfortable giving and receiving feedback in a constructive, growth-oriented environment
Familiarity with regulated or security-sensitive environments
Background in developer productivity or internal platform tooling
Experience building scalable systems that engineering teams actively leverage

Fully Remote: This position has been designated as fully remote, meaning that the position is expected to contribute from a non-NBCUniversal worksite, most commonly an employee’s residence.
